Dear Neighbor:

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I’d like to share with you the reasons Brentwood Travel Baseball is, as its Mission Statement calls for, providing T Ball and Little League baseball programs to supplement our long-established Travel (ages 13-30) along with Senior Ball (ages 13-17) efforts at Brentwood State Park .

As of 1/1/26, we have notified all known interested parties that we will now be known as Brentwood Baseball.

Brentwood Baseball consists of residents committed to serving the community. Our leadership has over 150 years of combined experience with local youth baseball. We are dedicated to our Mission Statement and continually strive to enhance the quality of life for our young people in the sports community.

We reviewed our operations and found a sharp decline in youth baseball participation in our community. It quickly became clear how serious the lack of children in programs is and how much the skills of the few remaining players have declined. We believe the current system is not effective, and we are motivated to implement these changes as soon as possible. Doing nothing will only accelerate decline and lead to an even bleaker future for our organization. The loss of competitive youth baseball under age 13 is already happening and will likely become permanent soon — which will negatively impact all groups dedicated to providing baseball to our residents.

Please be assured that our goal is not to determine who is responsible. Working together, we are taking action to address the situation in ways that enable our children to learn and feel proud. There is no time to waste on trivial efforts like finger-pointing, slights, whether real or imagined, or dwelling on the past.

We have set a goal to place over 200 children in the new T-Ball and Little League Programs by April 1, 2026, in partnership with Brentwood Schools, the country’s top baseball professional/collegiate placement company, Perfect Game, and one of the largest youth baseball leagues, LI Boys of Summer. Reaching this goal with 16 teams, Brentwood Baseball can provide training, skilled coaching, and a fun, competitive environment. This effort is too great for one person or organization, so we turn to you, our friends and neighbors, and respectfully ask for your support to help us reach our goal. We ask for your help in spreading the word to young children and their parents about us and in supporting the enrollment of hundreds of young players.

While this is very troubling news, putting our head in the sand is not the answer. In fact, we believe that if we all make a real positive effort to register hundreds of children in the coming months, both now and in the long term, we will experience the joy of America’s pastime—avoiding the teaching concept only through a robust competitive league.

Brentwood Baseball is dedicated to continuing our policy of subsidizing over 75% of registration costs and to providing the necessary resources to create a fun, competitive league this year at Brentwood State Park. Please visit our website BrentwoodBaseball.com and support this extraordinary effort today!

Thank you for your time and God Bless you.

Sincerely,

Thomas F. O’Hara
President
Brentwood Baseball
